Spring fever

With the warmer weather here(well it was!! lol), and the garden beginning to spring into life it inspired me to play with my floral stamps.

I started by stamping the En Francais stamp in Versamark on the card leaving the top free and after a little drying time, I smoothed the chalks over to give a softer feel and inked around the edges of the panel. I then coloured in the flower of the Love and Sympathy set with markers and stamped onto the panel, I added the greeting with the same ink as around the edges and stuck to a matt of the corresponding colour, stamp from Petite Pairs.

I used the colour coach to find a colour match for the ribbon and tied around the card with a simple knot, This was then mounted onto a whisper white card base.

I made a version in a different colour, lots of possibilities for this one I think, depending on the occasion.

I always seem to forget about my chalks, must explore more, they are very effective.

Back with some more florals soon.......

Simply Soft

We made this card at a workshop this week.....

It uses the Simply Soft hostess set staped in Soft Suede ink on very vanilla card, I used the splodge from French Foliage. I stamped this second generation to get a softer effect and then I coloured in the flowers using a blender pen and regal rose ink. This was mounted on the Spice Cake papers, combining the swiss dot card with the stamped card really works well with the lace ribbon.

A small piece of striped ribbon tied with linen thread and stamped tags. I completed the flowers with some tombow and dazzling diamonds glitter.

I made this project with the lovely Jenny Moore on one of her Extravaganza days which was great fun and Jenny is a very talented lady (you can check out her blog here :http://www.stampingmoments.blogspot.com)

The cost of Project Night is £10 or £23.50 (which includes the purchase of the Spiced Paisley stamp set used). The project will completed in one of two colours schemes - green/brown or mustard/turquoise. Payment in advance is required for this evening. Bookings and payments close on Friday March 16th.

There will be a raffle, spot prizes and light refreshments.

Birthday Discounts

This year I've decided to reward my cardmaking group members with a 15% discount valid against an order during their birthday month. Today I created these cards to contain their vouchers. I used the In Colour 2011-2013 colours with the SAB paper pack. The scallop punches layer beautifully together and pricking a hole around the edge of the larger one really shows the effect off.

Using the stamp from Happiest Birthday Wishes hostess set, you can punch out the middle and layer up. I have utilised both ways to make the most of the stamped image. I love the fact that the stamps and punches co-ordinate together this opens up loads of options for layering and giving dimension to your cards.

The itty bit flower punch was used to punch out some flowers in the paper and shaped and with the addition of a pearl in the centre was the perfect finish for one of the Pool party cards.

I hope the ladies enjoy their vouchers, and if you would like details of attending craft group please contact me

Technique Time

This card is made using the Resist Emboss Technique and masking technique.

I used the large medallion stamp and embossing with versamark and clear powder (remembering to heat from underneath to get a nice smooth surface). I masked off an area with post it notes (other makes are available lol) and embossed a suitable greeting. I then inked in the free area using one of my daubers. A small line around the design up to embossed area makes the inked area pop out.

This technique is ideal for any type of stamp dependant on your recipient, so is very versatile. A matching strip was coloured in the same way and punched using the scallop punch and added to the side of the design.

Hope you like it.... and let me know how you have used this technique?

Vintage Flower Tag

This tag is made with the Charming Stamp set from the current

mini catalogue. We made this at a recent workshop.

I used the Two Tags die to cut a tag from Very Vanilla cardstock, and stamped the wording in Sahara Sand ink and then daubed across the tag and around the edges to give it a distressed look.

Using the floral stamp from the set I stamped with Basic black ink using a first and second generation stamping and then stamped a greeting.

The flower was made by putting some black card through the crimper both ways and crunching it into a ball. This breaks the fibres and lets you split the card into two, this gives it an almost suede like texture. Punch this out with the Fancy Flower Punch and attach one of the Antique Brads.

Attach some ribbon across the front of the tag and add the flower with glue dots. You can scrunch up the flower to give it more depth, add some ribbon to the top and you're done.

Its an ideal tag to add to the front of a card or present.

If you'd like to purchase any items to make this tag or host a workshop so I can demo it for you, then please contact me: makeadaycards@aol.com
