Faux Patina

I loved this topper when I was given it as a swap, the colour and design idea were just perfect for the technique on Split Coast Stampers called Faux Patina.  The colours used are Pool party and Soft Suede for the topper, the back ground involved putting a piece of Whisper white card into the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder which had been inked up with Crumbcake on the flat side and then putting this through the Bigshot.  This transferred the ink to the card which was not embossed.

Then by daubing various colours (pool party, soft suede and early expresso) on to the piece of card to give some depth to the texture.  Dry the card thoroughly (either by air drying or wiping with a static bag) and lightly dab with versamark (not all over) splodges really, then cover with gold embossing powder , shake off excess and heat.  You can go one step further if you wish which is to then sand the gold embossed areas to give a more distressed look. The fabulous bakers twine in pool party brought the whole colour scheme together.

The Vermillion Stamp and the greeting from Teeny Tiny Wishes was inked in Soft Suede. The breast of the bird was coloured in using the ink off the lid with a blender pen (my new best friend!!)  love em.

We made this card at our last Card making group evening, so if you would like to join in the fun one evening, please check out the details in my side bar or tabs across the top.

Till next time, Jayne

Teasers..............

I attended Stampin' Up regional training over a week ago (where does the time go?), when demo's get together we swap (these are usually card fronts which we have designed ourselves, we make loads!!) and then when we get together we swap.  This process gives us a wealth of ideas and inspiration.
Today I have pictures of 4 swaps to show you, these all use the stamp sets from the new Summer Mini.  Its amazing how many different ideas there are out there.

I am hosting a Summer Mini launch workshop on Thursday 10th May in the Community Room, in the Village Hall in Marldon.  It starts at 7pm, there will be make & takes, prize draw, light refreshments and products/samples from the new mini catty.  We'd love to see you, contact me to book your space.

If you fancy hosting a workshop with your friends and earning some hostess £'s to spend in the catalogue then contact me and we'll make a date.  We can even tailor the party if there is a specific stamp set for technique you want to see/use.

Stampin' Up have also reduced the price of the starter kit to £99 so if you were contemplating becoming a demo then its perfect, contact me to have a chat about your options.  You don't have to do workshops etc you can just be a hobby demo and get your discounts.............perfect lol

Don't forget Craft Group dates coming up :  Come Crafting - 24th May and Cardmaking Group - 7th June

Project Night in June is a make & take night- General Occasions, more details to follow....

ILWS Summer MINI Blog Hop

Welcome to my blog, you will have come to me from the lovely Sarah . My offering is a  card made from the Up, Up & Awaystamp set. I used Lucky Limeade cardstock as a base and matted very vanilla to fit.
On the vanilla on stamped Lovely as a Tree in Lucky Limade ink, and then daubed Bashful blue ink to form the sky. I stamped the balloon basket in Soft Suede and one balloon in Crumbcake with the birthday sentiment from the set in Soft Suede ink.  (I must admit to having a bit of a crush on the Soft Suede at the moment!), the other balloon was stamped in Soft Suede on spare card, cut out and mounted with a dimensional  on top of the other basket.  The bird stamp from the set was stamped in Marina Mist.

I felt this gave a really soft feel to the card, I think this stamp set is ideally suited to a male theme but is very versatile in the fact that if used with bright colours, it could make a really colourful card reminding you of those balloon festivals in the summer. (it dosen't feel much like summer is coming at the moment!!)

Hope you enjoyed my ramble and your next visit is to the lovely Clare, enjoy the rest of your hop :-)

PS if you lose your way you can start at the beginning with Emily or check out Group 1 starting with Alison
I'd grab yourself a cuppa if I was you!! lol

Pastel Floral

Well, over the last few days summer seems to have gone away. I do hope those few nice days was not it - you know our summer!!!

Today's card was made by using versamark ink with the large French Filigree stamp and then colouring in with pastels (bashful blue), and daubing around the edge with Marina Mist ink. I stamped a panel across the bottom with Dot, Dot, dot but using Regal Rose ink but inking it up and stamping on spare paper then stamping onto the card giving a much softer colour. One of the flowers from the Simply Soft Hostess set stamped with Stazon ink made the border up the side, these were coloured in with the inks and blenders pens, attach matching ribbon and glitter the stamens on the flowers. Create your sentiment with some matching punches and add some bling.

Only a couple of weeks left to grab that free paper pack with an order of £45, please contact me to place an order.

Save the Date :Thurs 10th May - Stampin Up workshop - New Summer Mini catalogue launch, don't forget to book your space.

Sister Request

A friend recently asked if I could make her sister a bright and cheerful 40th Birthday Card. Melon Mambo and Tempting Turquoise came to mind lol, and that beautiful butterfly which is part of the Creative Elements set. Add some matt and layers, a bit of stamping and bling and there we go, she was very happy.

Before I'd attended Jenny Moor's extravaganza I'd always done inserts with a cheap A4 paper but I love making a layer inside and stamping on it too. Great tip Jenny!

Roar!! one for the boys

This card was made using the Dinoroar set of stamps, perfect for the boys. I combined Chocolate Chip, Lucky Limeade and Crumbcake cardstock. I used the dotted scallop border punch and the crimper to give texture to the layers. For the foliage I used the My Friend stamp set from the Mini catty in Lucky limeade ink, sometimes stamping twice with out reinking to give different colours. The sentiment was stamped in Stazon, as were the dinosaurs, I coloured them in using the blenders pens and ink pads, cut them out and mounted on dimensionals. To highlight the sentiment I punched two of the modern label punches and trimmed them to fit the sentiment.

I made some of these cards for recent craft fayres and they were a big hit. I also combined some of the linen thread on the other cards to give a bit more texture.

Spring fever

With the warmer weather here(well it was!! lol), and the garden beginning to spring into life it inspired me to play with my floral stamps.

I started by stamping the En Francais stamp in Versamark on the card leaving the top free and after a little drying time, I smoothed the chalks over to give a softer feel and inked around the edges of the panel. I then coloured in the flower of the Love and Sympathy set with markers and stamped onto the panel, I added the greeting with the same ink as around the edges and stuck to a matt of the corresponding colour, stamp from Petite Pairs.

I used the colour coach to find a colour match for the ribbon and tied around the card with a simple knot, This was then mounted onto a whisper white card base.

I made a version in a different colour, lots of possibilities for this one I think, depending on the occasion.

I always seem to forget about my chalks, must explore more, they are very effective.

Back with some more florals soon.......
